Dorm Room…

My dorm room has to be one of the best dorm room set ups on campus. My room is abnormally large for a dorm room. The bunk beds are in one corner sitting one above the other. The closet is extremely large and has more than enough room for all of my stuff and my roommate’s stuff. The windows are covered with blankets to allow the room to be dark in the middle of the day for good naps if needed. The small couch facing a 40′ inch tv with a small rug in between is a very relaxing setting. Directly connected with a full bathroom that we share with a couple of other guys, this dorm room is one of the best on the campus.

Favorite TV show as a kid…

My favorite television show as a kid probably is not the normal show a kid would love watching. Ever since I was at a very young age, my dad would tell me to turn off the TV if I was watching cartoons. When he would ever join my brother and I to watch some television we would watch “sportscenter” on the ESPN network together. My brother and I at a young age began to enjoy watching the show and became huge sports fans. A lot of our attitudes toward it can be attributed to my father. To this day, we are hooked on the show, and watch “sportscenter” considerably more than any television show.

Dentists….

I personally have a small issue with dentists. I have always had bad luck with teeth. When I say bad luck, I mean that I have had too many cavities and too many problems with my teeth. Dentists have always reassured me that all of these problems could have been avoided. I have brushed my teeth regularly as much as I can as long as I can remember. With all that being said I still have had a lot of problems with my teeth. My solution to these problems is that, bad teeth are genetic. It may seem illogical with what you have heard but I strongly believe in the genetic theory. This is why I dislike dentists.

Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Doughnuts…

On a personal note, I definitely prefer Krispy Kreme over dunk in donuts. I’ve heard from multiple people who the coffee at Dunkin Doughnuts is the best coffee at any restaurant. That includes the well known coffee powerhouse Starbucks coffee. With all that being said i’m not a coffee drinker so that does not weigh into my decision. Therefore my thinking is strictly based off of the doughnuts that they serve. Krispy Kreme has a conveyer belt of hot fresh doughnuts that melt in your mouth every time. Even beyond the fresh hot conveyer belt of greatness, the assortment of doughnuts with different toppings is much better than that of at Dunkin Doughnuts.

The most exciting thing I have ever done is something that my friends and I do once a year. Every summer for the past two years we have gathered together to embark on this adventure. Not far outside my hometown there is a bridge with a tributary from the lake flowing underneath it. The very first time I jumped off of the bridge into the water beneath, was also the very first time I had ever seen the bridge. It did not help that it was 11:00 at night and the water was barely visible because of the darkness. It took complete trust in my best friend who had done this before to jump off. Jumping off of this bridge is completely safe and the water beneath is at least 20 feet deep at the spot where we jump off. With all that being said where the water is barely visible and there is time in the air to think once you jump, fear is something that crawls up your spine every time.

When I grow up I want to be multiple things. I’d like to be man after God’s own heart. secondly I would like to be a father to some beautiful children with a wife that loves me as much as i would love her. Lastly I would like to be a positive influence on kids lives. My goal is to become a soccer coach and a teacher at the high school level. I feel that the high school level is the most teachable and the place where one could make the largest difference in a young persons life. With all that being said, ultimately it is going to come down to what the Lord has in store for me, and I hope that I am patient enough for God’s will to take place.

Fall Break!!!

Fall break is this next weekend and I am very excited for the much needed break. College academics are much more difficult than high school academics. With being on the soccer team and consequently being tired some days, it has been fairly difficult keeping up with all of the school work. An extra two days outside of school is amazing. I plan on using every bit of my fall break to catch up with old friends and most importantly relaxing and having fun. I plan on going to the University of South Carolina football game then going straight to the beach then coming home for monday and Tuesday, so my fall break is packed and i’m thoroughly excited.

Warren Wilson…

Today, the soccer team plays host to Warren Wilson College. I do not even know where that is, but that irreverent because they are coming into our house. We are expected to win the match. I am a true freshmen so it is hard for me to know exactly how good the team is that we are playing is going to be. A good friend of mine from my home town is driving up for the game tonight so I hope that we can play well. The game is at home which makes it even of greater importance because we need to put on a good show for the students that come out to support us. In order to have a large number of fans we must win the games that the few fans that we already have come to.

what I miss most of home…

The one thing that I miss most about home are simply the relationships with people who I have grown up with my whole life. When I came to this university I knew that I was going to a place where I knew absolutely nobody and nobody knew me. I saw this as a challenge seeing that I have never been put in such a situation before in my life. A challenge that I was willing to accept. Although after a couple months, I realize that I underestimated the difficulty of getting to know completely different people. I only go home once a month or so and I find great comfort in seeing the people who I grew up with and geniounly know. With that being said, I love this university and don’t question for a bit the decision of where I went to school.

Grammar has a been a vital topic in my first college english course. I am struggling big time trying to learn things that I should have learned a long time ago. In the public school system in South Carolina, grammar was not a topic of discussion in high school english courses. I feel as if high schools always said that they were simply preparing us for college. On the other hand ignoring grammar in the english curriculum did exactly the opposite. My most challenging course in my first semester of college is english because my high school english department did not prepare me as they should have.
